BF Game: How to Play

Friday Night Funkin’, often referred to as the BF Game due to its main character “Boyfriend (BF),” is a popular rhythm-based indie game that has gained massive attention for its fun gameplay, catchy music, and retro art style. In this article, we’ll guide you through how to play the game, whether you’re a beginner or just need a quick refresher.

What is Friday Night Funkin’?

Friday Night Funkin’ is a rhythm game where you play as Boyfriend (BF), who must defeat various characters in musical battles to win the approval of his Girlfriend’s father and other rivals. Each level, or “week,” introduces new opponents and original tracks.

How to Play

1. Basic Controls

The core gameplay revolves around pressing arrow keys in time with the music. Here are the standard controls:

  • Arrow Keys (↑ ↓ ← →): Match the notes as they scroll up the screen.
  • Enter: Confirm selections in menus.
  • ESC: Pause or go back.

Some versions or mods may allow you to use WASD keys instead of arrow keys.

2. Gameplay Objective

Your goal is to hit the correct arrows at the right time. When you do, your score increases. If you miss too many notes, you’ll lose the rap battle. You can monitor your progress with the progress bar at the bottom of the screen—try to keep it in your favor.

3. Weeks and Songs

The game is divided into “weeks,” each containing 2–3 songs. Each week features a unique opponent with increasing difficulty. Some popular weeks include:

  • Week 1: Daddy Dearest
  • Week 2: Skid and Pump
  • Week 3: Pico
  • And more…

You can play in Story Mode (follow the weeks in order) or Free Play (choose any song you like).

Tips for Beginners

  • Start on Easy Mode: Get used to the rhythm and timing before jumping to harder levels.
  • Practice: Repeating songs will help you improve muscle memory and reaction time.
  • Focus on the beat: Don’t just look at the arrows—listen to the rhythm to stay in sync.
  • Use Headphones: This makes it easier to hear the beat and stay focused.
